Las Fallas
Las Fallas This is the most popular festival of Valencia. It takes place from 16th to 19th March. Fallas means torch. These Fallas are big colourful sculptures created by local artists. During this period, these sculptures are exposed in the streets. Around those, some queens (young disguised girls) march. The music of fanfaras and of fireworks invades the city all day and all night long. The last day is that of “cremá”, when all these fallas are burnt so creating a very big fire. This is a very important cultural event which needs a very long preparation.

Moreover in Valencia, Christmas Holiday are very important, with the Christmas Day, the New Year’s Day and the 6th of January with the Magi’s arrival.

Other important dates
The Crosses of May, San Juan’s night (between 23rdand 24th June), Corpus Christi (on 19thJune) or the Holy Week are some important festivities of Valencia, moreover the Carnival, which has a deep tradition in Spain and in Andalusia particularly.

Another important day in Valencia is that dedicated to the Community of Valencia, when the re-conquest of the city by James I the Conqueror is celebrated. In this day a civic parade, presided by “Real Senyera” (the flag of the Community) takes place.
